FAIL - 10 Pound Bass Comes Off At The Boat!!

Matt hooked a truly giant bass! The giant fish tail walked up and down the side of the boat giving huge head shakes as she went. Everything looked like it was going perfectly until disaster struck! No matter how much preparation you do, sometimes the big bass get away. Let's check it out...

This fish ate a heavy flipping jig rigged with a big senko as a trailer. Its not a traditional rig but its incredibly effective! Sometimes the key to getting big bites is just showing the bass something they haven't seen before. Think outside the box this Spring and you might get your own shot at a fish of a lifetime like this.

Whether you're fishing for monster bass with a 3/4 oz jig or downsizing to a little finesse jig, trying the senko as a trailer might be worth your time. Match a big jig with a 7" senko, smaller jig with a 5 or 6", etc. Below is a breakdown of the gear used in this video.

Camp Fire - A Bass Fishing Story

Are you proud to be a bass fisherman? You're about to be! A few weeks ago the bass fishing industry came together and supported 22 of their own in the midst of tragedy. Here is a story the news overlooked...

The Camp Fire devastated Paradise, California and the surrounding communities. An incredible number of people lost their lives, and an unfathomable number of people escaped with nothing but their lives. Amongst those individuals were a bunch of bass fishermen! These aren't strangers, these aren't stories on the news, these are real people like you and I, some of them members of the TacticalBassin Family!

The news tells of devastation but they didn't tell you that Paradise, CA has a bass club. 22 bass fishermen in that club lost all their belongings and 2 lost their lives. Word of this tragedy spread through the bass fishing community very rapidly and a handful of amazing companies banded together to do something about it.

These are the brands that came together to support the Paradise Bass Club.

Giant Fish Story - 7 Lb 4 Oz Brook Trout!

You've been asking for the story behind this giant fish and today we're finally letting it out. This is the story of Matt's 7 lb 4 oz Brook Trout! You already know the story of the 17 lb largemouth on the left side of the desk, here is the story of the incredible fish on the right!

This fish catch took place when Matt was 10 years old. He and his family were visiting Cherry Lake in California. An average day of bank fishing took a turn toward the incredible when the big brook trout inhaled Matt's Rooster Tail spinner.

A Brook trout of this size is a catch of a lifetime for any adult, let alone a small boy. The catch itself is incredible but the chain of events it kicked off changed Matt's direction in life forever. Even at a young age, the desire to "just catch fish" vanished and was replaced for a desire to catch the biggest fish he could find.

While TacticalBassin's primary focus today is bass fishing, Matt and Tim are actually accomplished multi-species anglers. They hold a handful of non-bass world records and thoroughly enjoy chasing fish of all species.

Below is the Rooster Tail and line that Matt was using that day. We've also included an updated rod/reel combo that we would use today for this type of fishing.

Catching BIG Bass With Larry Dahlberg

We got the opportunity to fish with Hall Of Famer, Larry Dahlberg on Clearlake and it was awesome! Larry's first ever bite on Clearlake was an 8 lber and we captured the footage as it happened! Listen to the story and watch the footage as Matt breaks down that incredible day.

Listening to an angler with Larry's years of experience will change how you think. Getting the opportunity to fish together is something truly remarkable. If you ever have the opportunity to spend time with Larry or any other knowledgable angler, take the time to do it. Its amazing what can be gleaned from even short conversations with these people.

The time spent with Larry was something we don't take lightly, nor will we forget. We're lucky to have the footage to share with you and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Below is a break down of the gear used in the video as well as the products that Larry has developed.
