BUYER'S GUIDE: BFS (BAIT FINESSE SYSTEM) RODS, REELS, AND TACKLE

Bait Finesse is here to stay! Many anglers are wondering what BFS is for, and how to apply it to their fishing. If you've not experienced the bait finesse system for ultralight fishing, you're missing out on a lot of fun!

BFS has been around for many years but it took a huge leap into the limelight when Shimano launched their Curado BFS earlier this year. Suddenly, BFS became available to the masses at an affordable price. If you're not familiar with BFS the concept is very simple. Essentially, anything you've ever done with a spinning rod, can now be done with a bait caster, and with even more precision.

BUYER'S GUIDE: NED RIG - BAITS, HOOKS, AND RODS FOR NED RIGGING!

Ned rigs have taken bass fishing by storm! If you're not fishing a ned rig for lethargic bass, you're losing to guys who are! What started out as a counter-culture way to catch fish on the cheap has morphed into one of the fastest growing categories in the sport. Today's buyer's guide is dedicated to this unique technique so you can see through the hype and find the key baits that consistently catch fish. 

The concept behind the ned rig is very simple. An angler rigs a very small "do nothing" worm on a mushroom head so it will stand up on the bottom and fishes it with as little movement as possible. Something about this basic method will catch fish when nothing else will. Since the inception of the technique, the market has become littered with adaptations for nearly every situation. Simple Trick To Catch Bass When Its Cold!

When cold snaps hit, fishing can be brutal! Here's a quick trick we use to get fish to react and bite when they won't touch anything else! Whether they've suspended, gone deep, or just developed lock jaw, cracking a tube is a great way to catch bass in the cold. 

We all love to power fish in the Fall but when cold weather comes in, that bite can shut down in a hurry. Turning to baits like the dropshot, Neko rig, Ned rig, or slow dragging a tube are all great ways to get a bite. But if you still want to get them to react, try cracking the tube. Instead of using your standard tube head, grab a 1/2 - 3/4 ounce head. Let the bait fall to bottom then use a sharp double snap of the rod to get the bait to hop up off the bottom and fall back down on a semi-tight line. Something about these erratic movements draws a reaction strike, even during these tough conditions.
